Wild Green Future was created to use the power of the internet to save the world.
Wild Green Future was founded by the scientists, environmental educators, natural resource professionals, and veterinarians behind the humor group Wild Green Memes for Ecological Fiends. As the group’s social media channels grew from a niche group of friends to a global community of about 400,000 people, we realized we could channel the energy of nature enthusiasts into conservation.
We started Wild Green Future in 2019 to use community fundraising to provide grants and loans to grassroots organizations on the frontlines of conservation. Our annual fundraising event has supported tortoise and land conservation in Florida, helped ensure the sustainability of the Brazil nut harvest in the Peruvian Amazon, contributed to emergency relief for cold stunned sea turtles in Texas, and has provided microgrants for wildlife habitat restoration across the United States.
Our newest project, in partnership with Global Road Map and our social media community, will digitally map Borneo’s undocumented roadways to assess rainforest threats and generate funds for Bornean conservation. The opportunity to do such far reaching and impactful work is made possible by the dedication of wildlife enthusiasts across the internet and by the surprisingly powerful tools at our disposal. With the variety of information and technology accessible just from a computer or smartphone, many more people have the ability to change the world for the better than ever before.
Together we can all help to create a wild, green future.
